Internships and Service Learning
Econ 470S, Sustainable Rural Economic Development, is a Service Learning course where students work for a local economic development organization in conjunction with the course. This opportunity helps students make connections between their “real world” experience in the community and the economic theory learned in class. In the past, students have completed their service with AEDC, the County of Humboldt, the City of Arcata, Food for People, Seventh Generation Fund, PlanWest, Northcoast Environmental Center, and many others.
Econ 482, SBDC Economic Development Internship, is a new Internship course that allows students to combine coursework in the spring with a paid summer internship at one of the many Small Business Development Centers throughout California.
Humboldt Economics Ruprecht Assistantship provides an opportunity for students to work with faculty on Economics research projects. Students receive a stipend while gaining an important hands-on learning experience.
The Humboldt Economic Index provides paid opportunities for students to gain experience in community-based research. Student positions include Assistant Editor and Assistant Analyst.
