After Graduation
Economics teaches valuable skills and problem-solving techniques that will help you after you graduate from Humboldt. Economics graduates rank highly in starting salary potential. In addition to academia and government, economists work in all facets of the business world, including manufacturing, mining, banking, insurance, and retailing; not to mention sports, recreation, entertainment, and technology.
Many majors go on to graduate school to develop general skills or to focus on more specific skills. Depending on the program, students come away with one or more of the following degrees: Master of Arts (M.A.), Masters of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Masters programs prepare students for a wide range of positions in the private and public sectors. Ph.D. programs prepare students to teach at the university level or to work in non-academic fields.
