Meeting With Your Advisor

When you declare Economics as your major you will be assigned an advisor. You are required to meet with your advisor each semester to go over your program to make sure that you are on track to graduate and that you are fulfilling all of your requirements.

Our advisors schedule their own appointments. You need to contact them (personal contact, phone, or email) and set up an appointment to see them.

When you meet with your advisor you should bring the following items with you:

  • A copy of your DARS report. You can print it out from your Student Center. This will help you figure out what you need to take the next semester.
  • Your 4-year plan filled out to the best of your knowledge using the Econ MAP and Econ 5-year course rotation listing.
  • A list of what classes that you are thinking of taking the next semester, plus some backup class options in case the ones you planned on are either not offered that semester or if the class is already full.

While planning your classes keep in mind the importance of graduating in four years.

Remember, your advisor is here to help you and you should not hesitate to come in and talk to them throughout your time here at Humboldt.
